MAINTENANCE ROUTINES

A key factor that sets Nomadic Van apart is the in-depth care we put into every Delica. Every Nomadic Van undergoes an extensive inspection and over 80 hours of maintenance before being sold. Post MAINTENANCE Routine driven over 100 KMs and extensive quality control measures are taken to ensure reliability.

Check out our model-specific maintenance routines performed on each vehicle prior to sale:

nomadic Maintenance Routine

A full mechanical inspection is completed by a Delica technician. Process is as follows but not limited to:

Timing Belt, Seals and SHine up

Every van that goes through our hands gets “The Nomadic Maintenance Routine”. An integral part of this routine is replacing all of the belts and seals. If that means we have to pull the engine to replace the rear main seal (the seal sandwiched between the transmission and the engine) we absolutely will. During this process we meticulously clean the engine. While the aesthetic payoff is great; this process allows us to see any leaks once the engine is back together.

Cv axle boot

Over years of wear and tear the CV axle boots break down and rip apart. This allows dirt and grime into the articulating joint, which will destroy your CV axle. We make sure to check all CV axle boots, replacing when necessary, thus preventing CV axle demise.

Top End Adjustment (4d56 Only)

At Nomadic we want to ensure you are getting the peak performance out of your 4D56 Turbo-Diesel engine. The valve cover is removed and polished, while we adjust the valve clearance to back to .25mm. All of the valves, rocker arms and the camshaft are visually inspected for any signs or wear. If wear is present, parts are replaced.

2.5L 4d56 turbo diesel Maintenance Routine

l300 starwagon / occasional l400 (1986-1999)

The 4D56 is an efficient, reliable diesel engine. To match this reliability and prepare the 4D56 for long travels and many miles on and off-road, Nomadic Van applies a 100+ point maintenance routine to inspect and prepare your engine.

The Nomadic Maintenance Routine is perfectly thorough on the 4D56 engine. We replace every hose, gasket and seal that is accessible with out taking the front case off. If we discover any issues with the fuel injectors, injection pump or seals we will replace them with professionally rebuilt parts before they leave our shop. Needless to say once the 4D56 is properly maintained and tuned up she can handle the gnarly conditions and adventures!

2.8 Liter 4M40 Inter-cooled Turbo Diesel Engine

l400 Spacegear (1994+)

When paired with the L400 Spacegear chassis, the 4M40 engine is one of the more desirable off-roading options in the world. Due to our unfortunate import laws in the USA, Canada and Australia have been able to import these vas for 15 years longer than us. This shows with the multitude of YouTube videos showing L400s ripping up the outback, and the prevalence of aftermarket over-landing accessories that were produced in Australia. Better late than never, we are now able to import all Series 1 L400 Spacegears and the first wave of series 2 L400s.

The Nomadic Maintenance Routine is perfectly thorough on the 4M40 engine. We replace every hose, gasket and seal that is accessible with out taking the front case off. Since this engine is driven by a timing chain with a long lifespan, there is no need to change the chain if no issues are present. If we discover any issues with the fuel injectors, injection pump or TF-035 turbo we will replace them with professionally rebuilt parts before they leave our shop. Needless to say once the 4M40 is properly maintained and tuned up she can handle the gnarliest of back roads!

Released from 1986 through 2008, the 6G72 engine was released in the American market in such makes/models as the Mitsubishi 3000GT, the Dodge Caravan and the Chrysler Town & Country. What does this mean? This means that you can get most engine associated parts at your local auto parts store!

At Nomadic we leave no bolt unturned, and this sentiment holds true with the 6G72. Due to the tight nature of the engine bay we have to drop the entire cradle out of the chassis to perform the timing belt service. Once the engine cradle is on our custom made trolley, we spend 3 days replacing every seal, gasket, pump, line, spark plug, solenoid… You get the point. Once all of the new and refurbished parts are installed we of course have to shine it up. Depending on the van you will get a shine, and some paint to match in the engine bay :)
